Villa Trieste is San Diego's newest senior community, built in the early 1990s. The homes are modern inside, and the location is superb. Villa Trieste is about 2 1/2 miles from the ocean, far enough inland to be out of the coastal fog, yet not as hot as the inland valleys. The location is close to major shopping centers and health services. The community is very popular, and there is only one problem: since there are only 150 homes, many times there is nothing for sale. A typical home is a half-duplex, 1750 square feet, priced in the $500s. They are two stories, with around 1400 square feet on the bottom floor and a big loft space upstairs. There are also a few condo buildings, where you can own either an upstairs or downstairs unit, with a one car detached garage. These are typically in the mid to high $300s. Sorry, but the Villa Trieste homewoners association will not allow me to put pictures of the community on this website. Homeowner fees are currently $246 per month and includes exterior building maintenance, common area maintenance, a gated community, and all amenities.
