Peacock Hills is a neighborhood of homes with very low homeowner fees ($72 per YEAR), and low housing costs. Since there are minimal fees, there are no gates, pools, or clubhouses. It’s a very affordable way to own a home in coastal San Diego County. With 920 homes in the community there are usually a few homes for sale in Peacock Hills. Here’s the main street, Peacock Boulevard. It has a nice shady greenbelt down the center of the street.
If you want to have a backyard where you can have a garden or a few fruit trees, then this community is an excellent choice. Since there are no homeowner fees, you are responsible for all maintenance on your property. These homes are half-duplexes, connected at the one-car garages. In the picture above, the property line goes right down the middle of the two garages. Built in the late 1970s, the homes range from 827-1200 square feet. If these homes look familiar, it’s because you’ve seen them on the Rancho Hermosa and Costa Serena pages. They are all very similar.
Yes, there are hills in Peacock Hills, but I haven’t seen or heard any peacocks. I took this picture from a street named Panorama Ridge looking back up to Northerly Street. As you might imagine, some of these homes have great views and a nice feeling of space.
This is a 55+ senior community, but has no gate, clubhouse or other amenities. That’s unusual because today a community must have facilities that cater to seniors to qualify for 55+ status in California. But in Peacock Hills you can have all of the benefits of living with other seniors without the high homeowner dues to maintain facilities you might rarely use.
