Why consider Leisure World Seal Beach? Location, location, location! It’s as close to Los Angeles as you can get in a 55+ community. This makes it ideal for low-cost living close to employment centers if you’re still working. Or many clients who live near LA set up a place here so family members can live nearby in a place that’s affordable.

The homes are modest, 500 to 1052 square feet, and were built in the 1960s for the most part. I’ve seen some baby boomers remodel these to the max and I’ve even seen two units turned into one home! Leisure World is the second largest 55+ community in Orange County, so there are amenities galore.  For example – 6 clubhouses, fitness center, 9 hole golf course, 2500 seat amphitheatre, pool, woodworking shop, library, billiards, gardening plots and over 200 clubs and groups.

One of the newer condo buildings in Leisure World. All the other homes are co-ops, meaning you take ownership by purchasing shares in a building corporation. You may sell or bequeath these shares just like you would real estate you own with a grant deed.

Here’s a typical single story building. These homes are 1 bedroom, 1 bath or 2 bedrooms, 1 bath unless they have been expanded. Expanded means the front porch area has been enclosed to create additional living space.

There are also some two story buildings with upstairs or downstairs units.

Covered parking is nearby and offers some additional storage space.

The 9 hole golf course winds through the community, creating a peaceful setting. It’s hard to believe that just outside the gates is the bustling, hectic Los Angeles metropolitan area.
